Publisher's summary

He told me he loved me, then abandoned me.

My sister was his first choice. Too bad for him, I refused to be his second.

Dante Leone was bad news with a gorgeous exterior and a dangerous mind. Emotionally unavailable and slightly unhinged, he was a heartbreak waiting to happen. Again.

I ran. He gave chase and my fate was sealed.

Roaming the world, I searched for a vital part of me. There'd be no new beginning until I found my answers. My taste of freedom was sweet, yet lonely. And oh, so fleeting.

I should have known he would catch up to me. After all, he thrived on the chase. I'd learned that the hard way.

But guess what?

I was no longer the woman he seduced all those years ago. I no longer believed the pretty lies that passed his lips nor the false promises in his deceitful eyes.

My name is Phoenix Romero, and I'd make the rules this time around.

Like my namesake, I had risen from the ashes and this time, I would be the one to make him burn.

Loved the heroine

I love how the heroine was so strong with him physically. She kept her walls as erect as they should have been with that kind of betrayal. It made me respect the sh;t out of her. I also loved that thru everything she threw at him, while battling his inner turmoil, he remained madly in love and in pursuit of her. God I love a stalker! I just read Hans and now this one - I feel like I won’t be able to top these “stalkery and madly in love” heros!

Finally Phoenix and Dante’s story 🩵

This truly was a rollercoaster of emotions. From the beginning to the end was plot twist to unexpected plot twist. I really enjoy Dante’s stalking tendencies 😂 he was really, really getting his woman one way or another. Love that the author brings character from other books and series, connecting everything into a big universe.
The narration was soo good, Felicity did an amazing job as Phoenix, she capture her essence… Connor Crais, as always, delivered a perfect performance.

one of the most frustrating books

this was 13 hours of "that's a weird thing he said that relates to everything i have questions about but I'm not going to ask follow up questions to clarify". Phoenix is one of the most willfully ignorant and annoying characters I've ever read. also, incest? but was it between Phoenix and Dante or Aummon and Rayna? that never gets clarified and I'm kind of disturbed because I think it might be between Phoenix and Dante. something the author never fleshed out. the female narrator sounded way to old to be an 18, 20 and 23 year old women. you sort of get used to it but it's really distracting. Connor Crais was incredible of course. His narration and character was really the only reason I finished this book. I liked Dante. he was complicated and interesting. Definitely unhinged. honestly, this book was hard to get through. the best part was the last like 2 hours of this 13 hour book. if you like the whole misunderstanding trope you will enjoy this book. if not, skip it. I did appreciate it being in duet narration though. Just wish it would have been a better story.
