Now that all the men have returned from the front, she has been asked to give up her cottage and her job at the estate she helped run during the war. Publisher's summary
An extraordinary, gloriously uplifting novel about the power of friendship and the puzzling ties that bind us
Clayton Stumper might be in his twenties, but he dresses like your grandpa and fusses like your aunt. Abandoned at birth on the steps of the Fellowship of Puzzlemakers, he was raised by a group of eccentric enigmatologists and now finds himself among the last survivors of a fading institution.
When the esteemed crossword compiler and main maternal presence in Clayton’s life, Pippa Allsbrook, passes away, she bestows her final puzzle on him: a promise to reveal the mystery of his parentage and prepare him for life beyond the walls of the commune. So begins Clay’s quest to uncover the secrets surrounding his birth, secrets that will change Clay—and the Fellowship—forever.
The Fellowship of Puzzlemakers is pure joy, a story about love and family and what it means to find your people—no matter what age you are.
This audiobook includes an exclusive, audio-only introduction by the author.
Critic reviews
“The Fellowship of Puzzlemakers is such an intriguing story of love and family, told beautifully through the medium of play and puzzle-solving. Samuel Burr has done the seemingly impossible and found a whole new way to be funny, wise and revealing about relationships and what a mystery they are.”—Keith Stuart, author of A Boy Made of Blocks
“I LOVE THIS BOOK! I knew I loved it in the first few pages, and stayed head over heels until the very end. Romance, puzzles, and cats? Yes, please!”—Helen Ellis, author of Kiss Me in the Coral Lounge
“The Fellowship of Puzzlemakers is a big-hearted story of family, community and the joy of human connection. Following Clayton as he solves the clues–sometimes reaching dead ends, sometimes making valuable discoveries–we experience the delights to be found in a cleverly-constructed puzzle. The lessons Clayton learns along the way are ones we all could do with being reminded of from time to time. A story that pulled me along with its gusto while touching my heart. Lovely!”—Sarah Haywood, bestselling author of The Cactus

Story
The modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure - a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters - with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power.

An Ode to the Puzzling Life
The Fellowship of Puzzle Makers serves up not only engaging puzzles, but the broader awareness that there are puzzles everywhere we turn. As with many goal-oriented activities in life - and life itself - Burr teaches us that the doing feeds the soul more than the having done. I look forward to more!

This is written with many layers of meaning. Hence, the book is rightfully named. The readers are excellent in pace and in exemplifying the characters. At first, I was worried I wouldn’t be able to keep the many characters straight while listening, but I had no problem following, due to the excellent story telling.

This book was a joy to read. I loved the characters and the sweet story. Excellent narration by both narrators.
If ever an audiobook needed a pdf download, this is the one. For future readers, please add. The puzzles scattered throughout the book are such a fun and unique touch. I ended up photocopying them from a friend’s hard copy.
