Hi friends, my name is Glenda, and teaching foreign languages is my passion! There are a lot of different ways to learn a language—studying books, taking a class, or even watching foreign movies. But I’m an auditory learner. I have to hear and repeat the language to make it stick. In fact, when I was a teenager taking Italian classes, I would often make my own (cassette) recordings and study for my tests by listening to them.

Do you want to learn French quickly, easily, and on your schedule? Then keep reading.
Hi friends,
My name is Glenda, and teaching foreign languages is my passion!
There are a lot of different ways to learn a language—studying books, taking a class, or even watching foreign movies. But I’m an auditory learner. I have to hear and repeat the language to make it stick. In fact, when I was a teenager taking French classes, I would often make my own (cassette) recordings and study for my tests by listening to them.
All learning methods are valid! But there is only one you can so anytime and anywhere. And that’s what you’ll experience with this audiobook.
I have taken great care to choose vocabulary and sentences that you can actually use!
Each chapter is for a new situation you might find yourself in. For example…
- Being a tourist
- Getting around
- At the hotel
- Talking to kids
- Social media
- Agreeing and disagreeing
- On the phone
- Dealing with money
- Flirting (my favorite chapter!)
You’re in great hands with narrator Marie-Pierre, who will give you the French clearly and slowly, so you can repeat each phrase or sentence as you work through the audiobook.
Helping people learn languages is my great joy, and I think I’ve made a tool that will really help people learn quickly, efficiently, and while having a ton of fun!
I hope you enjoy this audiobook!
Affectuesement / with affection,
Glenda

The real stories behind the scenery of America’s national parks. For 12 years, Andrea Lankford lived in the biggest, most impressive national parks in the world, working a job she loved. She chaperoned baby sea turtles on their journey to sea. She pursued bad guys on her galloping patrol horse. She jumped into rescue helicopters bound for the heart of the Grand Canyon. She won arguments with bears. She slept with a few too many rattlesnakes. Hell yeah, it was the best job in the world! Fortunately, Andrea survived it.

Story
Tired of the pace and noise of life near London and longing for a better place to raise their young children, Mary J. MacLeod and her husband, George, encountered their dream while vacationing on a remote island in the Scottish Hebrides. Enthralled by its windswept beauty, they soon were the proud and startled owners of a near-derelict croft house - a farmer’s stone cottage - on “a small acre” of land. Mary assumed duties as the island’s district nurse.

Osbourne would remain there for the next nine years. Journal of a Trapper is his remarkable account as he developed into an experienced trapper and a seasoned mountain man of the Rockies.

Story
The “mountain men” were the hunters and trappers who fiercely strode the Rocky Mountains in the early to mid-1800s. They braved the elements in search of the skins of beavers and other wild animals, to sell or barter for goods. The lifestyle of the mountain men could be harsh, existing as they did among animals, and spending most of their days and nights living and camping out in the great unexplored wilds of the Rockies.

If you are a French language learner looking to advance your reading skills and enhance your vocabulary, then this book will guide you through dialogue and story listening in your second language. We often are instructed with conventional activities in the form of worksheets, overlooking that words are 20 times more likely to be remembered if they are a part of a story (Bruner, 2017). Language learners retain more in the context of a story and become accustomed to the natural syntax of that language.

You will not learn French with this alone
The title is Learn French in Your Car, but that is an exaggerated overstatement. I bought it to increase my learning time during my one hour daily round trip commute, while my primary learning comes from other sources such as Rosetta Stone. The entire audio book are just a series of questions, statements and phrases you might use in daily conversation but without any grammatical knowledge or more vocabulary you can’t carry on a fluid conversation with just a set of memorized phrases. Where it helps is if you already are or have developed some background. In that case listening to this would increase your conversational abilities. As a stand alone method for learning French however, it falls short. This was further emphasized when I later purchased audio books from the Paul Noble series which are much more in depth and through which you could learn conversational French alone.

Not a beginning program.
French interpretation far too fast and complex. Jumps right into full sentences and then translates at normal speed rather than breaking down each semtence and phrase. More appropriate for mid- or advanced-level learners.

Perfect for long car rides!
I've always been a big fan of audiobooks. They're perfect for long car rides, or when you're doing chores around the house. But I have to say, this is the first time I've ever used audio to learn a foreign language. And it's working like a charm! I'm planning a trip to France later this year, and I've been using this French audio course to brush up on my language skills. The lessons are short and easy to follow, and I can pause and rewind as needed. Plus, there's no better way to learn a foreign language than by immersing yourself in the culture. With this audio course, I can practice my French while driving between destinations. It's the perfect way to make the most of my time and learn a new skill at the same time.

The right pace and repetition for a car listen
The speaker speaks the English once, then the French, then the English again, slightly differently, then the French again. This is slow enough to enhance comprehension, but not so slow as to be irritating where you've already learned the phrase. Excellent selection of phrases. In the car, you really can use hearing the English the second time and the problem with other audiobooks is that they do not have the second English phrase. Slight criticism - some of the idiom translation is more by overall meaning than by literal, and the differences could be identified.

No pauses for practicing
Unlike the Paul Noble audiobooks, it is very hard to learn French in one’s car with this title. There are no pauses for the user to try to learn how to make the sentence. I hope I can return it and get something better.

Definitely a superb listen, this is good
Each sentence has a perfect phonetic pronunciation as well. I am confident that the topic guide will cover practically any issue you are likely to experience when traveling in France because it is well-thought-out and simple to use.

Valuable audiobook.
This audiobook has a lot of lessons for beginners of the French language. I would highly recommend this audiobook to anyone looking to learn French. Marie-Pierre narrated well.

Merci beaucoup, Glenda!
Bonjour! As someone who has always struggled to learn new languages, I was skeptical about trying yet another language learning method. However, Glenda's French audiobook has completely changed my mind! Her carefully chosen vocabulary and sentences are practical and useful, and the narrator's slow, clear pronunciation makes it easy to follow along and repeat the phrases. I love that each chapter covers a different situation, from being a tourist to flirting (my personal favorite!). If you're an auditory learner like me or just looking for a fun and effective way to learn French, I highly recommend giving this audiobook a try. Merci beaucoup, Glenda!
