Publisher's summary

The man who brought the kavorka to the Seinfeld show through one of the most remarkable and beloved television characters ever invented, Kramer, shares the extraordinary life of a comedy genius—the way he came into himself as an artist, the ups and downs as a human being, the road he has traveled in search of understanding.

“The hair, so essential, symbolizes the irrational that was and is and always will be the underlying feature not only of Kramer but of comedy itself. This seemingly senseless spirit has been coursing through me since childhood. I’ve been under its almighty influence since the day I came into this world. I felt it all within myself, especially the physical comedy, the body movements, so freakish and undignified, where I bumped into things, knocked stuff down, messed up situations, and often ended up on my ass.

“This book is a hymn to the irrational, the senseless spirit that breaks the whole into pieces, a reflection on the seemingly absurd difficulties that intrude upon us all. It’s Harpo Marx turning us about, shaking up my plans, throwing me for a loop. Upset and turmoil is with us all the time. It’s at the basis of comedy. It’s the pratfall we all take. It’s the unavoidable mistake we didn’t expect. It’s everywhere I go. It’s in the way that I am, both light and dark, good and not-so-good. It’s my life.”—Michael Richards, from Entrances and Exits

Michael is a seeker

He wrote so elegantly about his journey to find himself and where he belonged , now we know!

Disappointed it didn’t fold out to a coffee table!

I may never buy another audiobook that’s not read by the author. What a great listen! His Seinfeld stories were great. His childhood is interesting. His unabashed retelling of the meltdown on the stand up stage was fantastic. If you’re a Seinfeld fan; I can’t recommend enough. If you’re not; I can’t recommend this enough. Side note: His Jay Leno voice is dead-on.

Michael’s frankness

Michael has always been one of my favorite comedians. I enjoyed it very much. I can understand him now and he’s a brilliant comedian giddyup.

Best Audiobook I've Listened To In Some Time!

I've really enjoyed this one. Michael Richards is a great writer and narrator. He narrates with such great expression, keeping the listener fully engaged with his crafty writing style. I've already recommended this book to friends/family and one of them has already started it. I haven't shared any of my favorite parts with them, there are so many, as I want them to be as surprised and intrigued as I was. I'm looking forward to them catching up so we can talk about it. Overall, it's a really great book and you learn so much more about the author than you ever knew. You will not be disappointed in this masterpiece of an audiobook. Thank you for reading my review.

We love you michael!

I am so happy he wrote this. I love that Jerry and Michael read their parts instead of someone else. Very interesting info. I loved Jerry's intro and his love and support of Michael. Two of the best commedians to ever live.

Honest, humble, inspiring

I learned a lot about Mike Richard’s I never knew. Adversity, poverty, military service, his honest and humble look at himself and his mistakes, also his thankfulness of his success. Very well narrated, funny at times, sad at times, but honest. In my book, if you can be honest, apologize, be grateful and inspire, look at your own faults and admit them, you are a real man. Mr. Richard’s, your book touched me, well done and “giddy up”.

Surprisingly Wonderful

I'm a long-time fan of Seinfeld and Kramer is certainly one of my favorite characters. I learned of Michael's book from one of his first press interviews. No sense in sugar coating it, the interview was terrible. What I didn't know at the time is what an introverted soft-spoken man Micheal is. But, I took a chance on the book. I figured it couldn't be any worse than that dreadful appearance on Good Morning. Wow. Just, "wow." Micheal is deeply introspective, thoughtful, and open--despite his own awareness and introverted-ness. He's a wonderful storyteller and narrator, and I enjoyed listening to every second of his beautiful book.

So glad Michael read this book himself!

Really enjoyed hearing the lifestory of one of the greatest comedic actors from the best sitcom ever aired. And what a bonus that Jerry cued him up. It just seemed right that we got to hear from both of the men who brought us “Jerry and Kramer”.
